This year Alfredo alla Scrofa celebrated its 110 anniversary and was awarded the title of “esercizio storico”, or historic business, of Rome. Alfredo made history in the Roman culinary landscape for more than a century, becoming world famous for its purely perfect, yet extremely simple linguine dish. Mario Mozzetti, the owner, and the whole staff, are happy to pamper you in the exquisite elegance of this historic location, and introduce you to some classic examples of Roman cuisine with a contemporary flare.

THE PIAZZETTA ALFREDO

If you decide to trade the air-conditioned rooms for the orange hues of the old buildings, you will not be disappointed with the Piazzetta Alfredo: the wide area in front of the restaurant, is perfect for your meal "al fresco".
Shaded in the summer by large umbrellas, and warmed in the winter by outdoor heaters and cozy blankets, you will always be comfortable.

THE ROMAN CELLAR

Immerse yourself in the magic of an original roman wine cellar: stone walls and ancient columns today safeguard a throve of big and small enological treasures.

During a renovation project in 2023, several rooms, spaces and reservoirs, in perfect state of preservation, were discovered underneath the restaurant.
These ancient constructions near the Tiber and around the Campo Marzio have been turned into charming dining and tasting spaces.

    First Lease Agreement

    Alfredo Di Lelio closes the deal for the opening of the restaurant at Via della Scrofa 104, the birthplace of the legendary Fettuccine Alfredo that has captured diners' hearts worldwide.

    The Golden Cutlery Set

    The Famous Hollywood couple Mary Pickford and Douglas Fairbanks visited Rome on their honeymoon and tasted Fettuccine Alfredo. Upon returning to the United States, they sent a set of golden cutlery to Rome, which has since become an icon of the art of creamy pasta tossing and Fettuccine Alfredo.

    Charlie Chaplin in City Lights

    During one of his tours, the most celebrated silent movie actor visited Italy to promote his latest film. After meeting fans at Cinecittà, he wandered through the streets of Rome and dined at Alfredo alla Scrofa, where he discovered its signature dish.

    Rome Olympics

    The capital hosted the 17th edition of the Olympic Games for the first time in its history. Italian athletes gained 36 medals includong13 gold. Among the standout performances were boxer Nino Benvenuti, champion in the welterweight category, and sprinter Livio Berruti, who made history by defeating North American the champions in the 200-meter race.
